Whole and Half an Organic Grass Fed Lamb
We are incredibly proud of our lamb, and are told by many of our loyal customers that its vastly superior to anything that they've bought in a supermarket.
Why.? Well its simple really, we're a bit old fashioned you see, we believe in good old fashioned values and quality. We allow our lambs as much time and space as they need, we don't feed them lots of artificial things or try and push them, we just allow them to graze our lush herb rich organic pasture, the way that nature intended. That’s all they have, lush organic grass, and a bit of tender loving care to ensure they mature naturally and have incredible flavour.
We have a small flock of pedigree LLeyns, www.lleynsheep.com which we are just establishing and we have our own special sheep They are not a breed as such but a combination of breeds that we have carefully selected over the years to produce what we believe is the perfect animal for our organic free range system. If you really want to know we'll tell you, but Shh it’s our little secret. So we have always had Dorset Sheep you can find out more about them here http://www.dorsetsheep.org.uk they are a lovely breed but a few years ago we experimented a bit by crossing our lovely Ewes with an Oxford ram you can read all about Oxford Sheep here http://www.oxforddownsheep.org.uk Why.? Well for one we had a small pedigree flock of these amazingly beautiful gentle giants and wanted to add a little more size and length to our Dorset’s, (more length means more chops..) They are also incredibly docile and generally lovely, so that helped.. Now we have a wonderful traditional native breed. We then Cross these lovely Ewes with another native Ram, this time one from over the border in Wales the Lleyn, you can read about this amazing breed of sheep here http://www.lleynsheep.com Why.? Well again the reasons are many and varied. Firstly my father just happened to have a few incredibly good rams, so the opportunity was there, and secondly they are wonderfully easy lambing, (less stress for our lovely Sheep and for us) but mainly as the lambs are so good at finishing from grass, no cake or artificial feeds are needed so you are assured of the very finest quality traditionally reared succulent grass fed lamb. We don't want to blow our own trumpet (well we do actually, we're just pretending to be modest) but we've just scooped the following at Melplash show,
First, Second and Fourth in the Heavy Native class, First and Fourth in the Light Native class and the cup for Champion Native so when you buy lamb from us you really are buying the very best award winning lamb...
